How often should my pet be groomed?

Usually every 4-6 weeks to keep your pet's coat sanitary and neat. Of course we can arrange appointments sooner for clients who like to tackle the pet odor. We encourage our clients to lock in their appointments in advance to eliminate scheduling conflict.

Is all the grooming done in the mobile unit?

Yes! We are a full service mobile grooming unit that is fully equipped. All that we need is a safe place to park the unit, and an electrical outlet to plug into.

How long does it take to groom a dog?

The average time it takes to groom a dog that is groomed regularly is about an hour to an hour ns a half. It takes more time if the dog is matted, if it is a long haired pet that has a fancy clipping.

Can we schedule you to come while we are at work or away from the house?

Of course! We do need you to be home for the first few appointments, this way you and your pet get used to us, you can give us specific instruction, and everyone gets comfortable. After, we would be more than happy to come at your convenience. A lot of our clients purchase the lock box for under $35.00. It is used by many realtors. How it works is, you place the key inside the box and then assign it a code, it is then secured to your house. You would then let me know the code, therefore I would be able to enter the home on that day only to service your pet. What is great about these boxes is you can change the code after and use it over and over! This way it eliminates us from having keys to your home, which makes things easier on everyone.

Will bathing my pet on a schedule dry his/her skin?

At Clean Pets Express we believe in using all natural, gentle products on your pets, therefore grooming them actually is a great moisturizer. Having your pet groomed regularly provides benefits for there skin, especially for pets with dry coats and skin.

When should my puppy start the grooming process?

We strongly recommend that you start your puppy at 10 weeks of age (after the second vaccination). The first 6 months of your pup's life is equal to the first 5 years to a child. Starting them early is extremely important. We recommend doing a grooming session once a month for the first four months. Even if the puppy isn't ready for a haircut, we expose the puppy to all of the sounds of the grooming process. The earlier he/she is exposed to being groomed the better your pet will be at accepting, and eventually enjoying the process. It is very important to us that it is a pleasant experience for your pet. We take our time with puppies and expose them to everything patiently, that way we can expose your pet to something relaxing, and beneficial that will last them a life time!!

Do your clients normally tip?

Yes. Although it is not required the majority of our clients do tip around 15-20%.

Why does my dog itch after grooming?

It is very common. Some dogs itch just as a human would after shaving. If your dog came to us matted and we had to use a short blade to remove the matting, this could cause the skin to itch. That is one of the reasons that maintaining your pets coat in between grooming is essential. If your dog has had their ear canals cleaned or plucked for the first time, then he/she will be more prone to ear shaking. Try to discourage this behavior because it can cause irritation and scabbing if left unattended. When mats are removed from the ears, blood rushes to the tips of the ears. When the dog shakes its head the tips of the ears bang together and can cause scabbing, or hemotomas. Apply Gold Bond Medicated Powder, or baby rash cream for the itching. But do not apply The Gold Bond Medicated Powder to the eye area or any scabbing. A women's sock can be cut like a sleeve and placed around the head snuggly (never to tight) to stop the ears from banging together. Please note that white/light colored dogs are more prone to itching and shaking of the ears after grooming.

What should I have at home to maintain my pet's coat?

Having the right type of combs/brushes for your particular breed is very important. A quality nail clipper and some "kwik stop" to stop bleeding incase of clipping the nail to short. Also some Gold Bond powder for any itching, just remember not to apply on any open sores, head, or eyes. Diaper rash cream can be used for the bum, stomach, and under jaw.

What are the benefits to mobile grooming?

Mobile grooming is much more convenient. We come to you eliminating your time driving, your gas, your time waiting to pick up you pet, and eliminating bringing dirty dogs in your cars. We also do not use cages so it is less stressful for your pet. The atmosphere is a lot more calm, and relaxing than your traditional grooming shop. We maintain a sanitary environment and groom only your pet, therefore your pet is not exposed to other pets disease, infestations, or anxiety.

Is mobile grooming priced higher?

The price is generally around $15 - $20.00 higher than bringing your dog to the grooming salon. The main reason is because we offer a convenience of serving you at your home at your designated time, We also offer many other advantages to you and your pet less stress, saves you time, no cages, saves you gas, your pet doesn't have to wait at a salon for hours, you do not have to take two trips to pick your pet up, and of course a less stressful more relaxing environment.
