Nestled in the heart of Old City in Center City Philadelphia, Old City Childcare is our place for children to receive attention from our wonderful and experienced childcare specialists. We are just a hop, skip and a jump from the famous Franklin?s Fountain Ice Cream parlor, on quiet block behind 2nd Street called Leticia Street. This quiet street shelters us from the usual bustle of the city, as well as noisy traffic and crowds of pedestrians. We have a bilevel loft space on the ground floor, amply decorated by the works of our little angels, intimate enough for one-on-one attention, yet roomy enough for playtime.
Old City Childcare only takes 18 kids at a time. Children are separated from infants until the little ones are able to play with the others. The toddler ages range from 1 to 5 years old, and our atmosphere allows for interactivity across these ages. We do, however, tailor our games, educational programs, playing and other activities for each age group. This allows each child to continue their development while still engaging with others younger and older than themselves.
Old City Childcare is blessed to have some of the finest child care professionals around. We are loving, caring, and have decades of experience. Some of our kids also attend our little school. We are state certified, and have all the necessary first aid training necessary.
Old City Childcare is fortunate to be located in one of the most historical areas in Philadelphia. We take full advantage, and weather permitting, shepherd our little sheep to experience the historical park of Independence Mall, Liberty Bell and Franklin?s Square. We make trips to neighborhood parks such as 3 bears park, and Franklin?s Square. Occasionally, we have field trips to the Camden Acquarium and museums and retreats in the Philadelphia area.
Inspiration brings the best out of young kids, and we are motivated to inspire them to do more creative activities. Apparently, this also keeps them enjoying life, and each other, while learning about the world we live in, and how we have a role to be good in it.

t is a mission of the Old City Child Care & Learning Center to provide a fully integrated early child care program to foster the child’s social and emotional growth as well as their physical and mental development. Additionally, we have implemented the High Reach curriculum in our programs for two year olds and pre-schoolers. The High Reach program includes age appropriate lesson plans, classroom materials and a parent newsletter filled with activities you can do with your child at home.
Old City Child Care & Learning Center offers a no-pressure environment in which children have an opportunity to be the agents of their own learning. This philosophy of respect for children and their ability to make choices builds self-esteem and creates a foundation of learning that is purely positive; therefore, the child’s relationship to school will be positive as the child moves on to grade school. Children will always choose to learn when they are ready for the challenge. Forcing a child into an activity that may be beyond their developmental abilities only teaches a child that the activity is difficult and should generally be avoided. Consequently, we employ game playing teaching techniques, freedom, validation and abundant support and affection to generate enthusiasm for learning. Old City Child Care & Learning Center graduates are invariably ready for kindergarten.
