Born in Chicago, IL, DJ Jazznosis (aka Rob Thompson) was raised in a music-appreciated household and surrounded by musicians and DJ’s alike. His father collected jazz records, his mother loved soul and jazz and his late older brother was into classic rock and funk (mostly Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Ohio Players). Though hip hop and jazz are his top favorites, Jazznosis’ love for music expanded beyond the typical social and racial barriers of his neighborhood growing up. You may discover his huge library containing house, drum & bass (a new favorite of his), trip hop, reggae, alternative, 2-step, acid jazz, Afrobeat and a diverse selection of Latin music. Jazznosis always wanted to be a musician whether it be playing the trumpet like Donald Byrd to guitar like Prince to even guitars and synthesizers like Depeche Mode. But somehow Jazznosis subconsciously knew he was destined to be a DJ. Not just because he endlessly purchased music, but because of his knowledge and passion for it. He was especially inspired by how hip hop DJs like Eric B, Terminator X and DJ Jazzy Jeff were able to transform turntables into a musical instrument. And like other DJs, Jazznosis gained inspiration from movies such as Beat Street, Juice and High Fidelity. However, he never pursued such a career until 1997 working as an audio/visual technician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, assigned to spin 70’s tunes for a 25th anniversary gala held outdoors. Jazznosis has been doing his thing since then. He has held residencies and spun guest spots in Chicago clubs such as the House Of Blues, Spoon and Le Passage as well as performed private mobile gigs either solo or spinning with a live musician or band. In addition, DJ Jazznosis has achieved his long time goal of beat composing and producing (occasional rap and spoken word vocals). Jazznosis has made guest appearances on music shows on cable access shows, and has his music and artists he produced displayed on allmusic.com and Windy City Internet Radio & Television. His most popular track Arabesque still receives “cyberplay” through WCITV.com. Watch for Jazznosis for upcoming collaborations and future compilation projects. T'izm Sound is an independent DJ service founded by Rob Thompson (DJ Jazznosis). The "T" is for Thompson and the "izm" is a state of high. So the goal within the name is to get the listener high from my sound or the sound that we bring. Never confuse us with the typical DJ service. These are what we refer to as "human juke boxes." The corny plug-n-play DJs dressed in tuxedos with the heavy fancy equipment, but doesn't do much of anything with it but stand around and pop CD's or records on to play in its entirety before transitioning to the next one. The songlists they provide are limited and is usually contains the same top 40 songs between each of them. That's not only typical, it's boring. The crowds we've encountered are tired of the common traditional crap witnessed at a typical wedding or corporate function. We're not only musicologists, but we're mixologists. Our services are for the eclectic, bohemian or otherwise not-so-traditional crowd. We like to bring creativity and eclecticism to the crowd while keeping the music seamless and festive for the occasion. We also think outside the box by providing more than just a top 40 selection. There is entirely too much music out there in the world, and not everybody wants to hear the same stuff you hear on "American Idol." In addition, T'izm Sound does music production and beat composing. We rock parties across the Chicagoland area. We can also service Southern Wisconsin and Northwestern Indiana.
