I'm an experienced Elementary teacher and tutor. I can tutor in all K-8 subjects but I specialize in two multi-sensory programs: Reading Recovery and Fundations. The latter is derived from the Wilson Reading System. Wilson Fundations for K-3 is a phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics and spelling program for the general education classroom. It can be taught in small groups or individually, too. Fundations is based upon the Wilson Reading System? principles and serves as a prevention program to help reduce reading and spelling failure. Reading Recovery is a highly effective short-term intervention of one-to-one tutoring. It's typically used with low-achieving first-graders but with private tutoring I have used it with students in Kindergarten all the way to the 4th-grade and I have seen results with students in these other grades. Reading Recovery teaches phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, letter/sound relationships, reading comprehension, and fluency. With either of these two reading programs I can tackle your child's reading struggles.
