Professional Resume:
r. Marcus first became interested in alternative health while learning how to overcome his own chronic fatigue. He knows from personal experience what it is like when doctors dismiss real problems or offer expensive therapies that are not very effective. After finally finding a doctor who was truly helpful Dr. Marcus decided to go into natural health to help other people who have been through similar experiences.

Saul Marcus ND, is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. He is not licensed in the state of New York, as NY state does not recognize or license naturopathic doctors at this time.

Company Description:
Holism is an approach to health care where the whole individual is taken into account, not just a single part or symptom.

Conventional medicine generally divides the body up into systems and specialties without considering how each part affects the other. This may work if you're fixing a car (you can change the tires without thinking about the engine), but it does not work well in health care.

For example, if the liver does not detoxify estrogen well, the excess estrogen may cause PMS. Conventional medicine treats PMS with birth control pills to regulate the cycle. However birth control pills don't regulate anything, they deregulate the cycle to the point where normal ovulation stops and have many dangerous side effects. It takes a holistic approach to connect PMS with liver function.

Another example is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This is a multi-factorial problem which may be caused by stress, poor diet, infections, GI disturbances, insomnia and even more factors. Some conventional treatments for chronic fatigue include:

* Telling the patient nothing is wrong with them and it is all in their head. * Anti-depressants. * Anti-viral drugs.

At Naturopathic Wellness we don't accept that fatigue is all in someone's head, or caused by a deficiency of anti-depressant medication. At least anti-viral drugs attempts to treat a cause of fatigue. However it will be very difficult to find a conventional medical doctor who treats fatigue holistically, by considering all the systems which may contribute to fatigue (immune, gastrointestinal, endocrine, nervous, hepatic, renal) in addition to lifestyle, diet, exercise, nutritional status, sleep and applying this to each patient on a case by case basis.

When working from a holistic approach we understand that the body is one whole unit. You can't just treat single symptoms without considering the rest of the body. Also throwing supplements at symptoms instead of drugs may be natural but it's not holistic and rarely works. This is why at Naturopathic Wellness the time is taken to thoroughly review each client's history to understand all of the factors contributing to their health concerns.

Dr. Saul Marcus does not treat any disease, he helps people maximize health and wellness
