JIROCH STUDIO LOS ANGELES, CA 1980-Present Artist, Painter, Illustrator and Curator Create and promote artwork inspired by a wide range of influences from art history and everyday life, including American regional, pop, German expressionism, nonobjective and American abstract and day-to-day visuals of Southern California and the Midwest.? Paint colorful, large-scale works that, from a distance, resolve into powerful images that confront American imagery and address the complexity of solitude in America.? Mediate expression with use of primary colors and gestural brushstrokes, painting to address and combine many different styles of painting into one series of paintings. Designed and promoted solo art exhibitions at Solo Brewery Art Complex, Los Angeles; Bergamot Station, Los Angeles; Madison Art Gallery, Madison, Wisconsin; and Los Angeles Museum of Art. For the last seven years, I have been a companion, guy Friday, chef, and houseman to a gentleman of means. Pryor to that, I was a teacher with LAUSD. When the opportunity came along for this position, I was unsure. But after a few months I found my new calling. I loved doing this job. It was well suited for me. Not only did I enjoy taking care of My former employer, but through the process he also became good friend. My employer died in late January. I am currently looking for a new profession, hopefully in the same field.
