Allow me to introduce you to one of the many holistic forms of healing and maintaining your body. My introduction into the field of massage was made possible by my grandmother’s caring hands and tender heart. Coming from the Caribbean island of Jamaica , my culture’s form of healthcare came in the form of bush medicine, exotic oil massages, and herbal soaks. These techniques have been pushed to the side and replaced with synthetic drugs and outpatient care. As a massage therapist, I would like to re-introduce the traditional healing methods. The fast pace world in which we live in is taking its toll on our bodies. Daily stressors, introduces unwanted chemicals signals into our body which forces our internal organs to work even harder to remove these toxins while trying to maintain homeostasis. Due to our sedimentary lifestyles our body must be assisted in the elimination of these contaminants. Massage and its various modalities accomplish this without drugs or surgery.
