Company Description:
Master stylist Demisha Webster stays on the move with her company, Styles On Wheelz Mobile Beauty Services, LLC. Founded in 2004 in Dayton, Ohio, Styles On Wheelz offers in-home hair and beauty services to clients whose mobility challenges or other special needs prevent them from easily visiting a salon.
Demisha thought of offering the service five years into her tenure as a stylist at Dee Jay?s Beauty Salon in Dayton. She wanted to find something that would set her apart from other stylists and give her clients something more unique and personal. Filling a need was the natural choice; Demisha enjoys helping people and appreciates the wisdom she gets from being around the elderly, and she often got referrals from clients who had relatives who were unable to go to a salon. A client?s referral to a group home helped to solidify the idea for Styles On Wheelz.
Since the move to Louisville, Kentucky, in 2006, Demisha?s ideas for Styles On Wheelz haven?t stopped. She sees a franchise with a diverse team of stylists who cover the Midwest; a fleet of RVs with built-in salons; a home-base salon; services for events and celebrities; and a non-profit extension called Styles On Wheelz Care, which will organize donations of wigs and hair pieces for people in need. Demisha has seen the effect a new look can have on a person with disabilities, and she wants more people to be able to experience that feeling. ?I had one person cry because she hadn?t had her hair washed and cut for so long,? Demisha says. ?It?s very rewarding to see the smile on their faces. To have their hair cut helps to enhance their quality of life. It helps build their self esteem.?
Demisha not only has a passion for her work and her clients, but she also has the skills to make them look their best. Demisha has been a licensed cosmetologist for over 15 years. The graduate of Gordon Phillips School of Beauty (Collingswood, New Jersey) won first prize for avant-garde styling in the distinguished Alfred Berger Memorial Competition ? a state-wide competition for New Jersey hair stylists. She was also a Hair Grammy winner in the 2000 Hair Wars competition and has received recognition in Dayton, Ohio?s The Daily News, Dayton Weekly News, and DA-TV.
Demisha is making her mark in Louisville through Styles On Wheelz and through her own community service and leadership. Demisha is a member of the National Beauty Culturist League and of N-tegrity Business Consultants, and she serves as president assistant of UJIMA Neighborhood Network Involvement. Demisha donates her time and skills to Jam Jeffersontown Area Ministry, a program that provides free hair cuts to local disadvantaged residents, and to her church, Beargrass Missionary Baptist Church. Styles On Wheelz will soon be working with women?s shelters and group homes for children.
