Hello and welcome, my name is Sheri Olivas, I am a RN and I practice the Healing Arts.
I have been drawn to the healing arts since I was a child. I have always collected stones, then was drawn to herbs and other crystals. However, being very left brained I could not understand the natural healer part of me and decided to become a nurse. I graduated from Clackamas Communtiry College in 1991 with a degree in Applied Science Nursing. Took and passed the LPN boards and began working in a nursing home in 1991 while still going to CCC. Graduated with an Associates in Science Nursing in June of 1992. Passed the Oregon State RN boards in September of 1992. Continued to work in nursing homes until January of 2000 when I was hired to work for Kaiser Permanente.
Things seemed to be going just fine, except..... There had to be more. I keep seeing the same patients in for the same things over and over day after day. They do not seem to be getting better at all. Then I found Reiki, I felt this could really help my patients actually get better. So I started studying Reiki in 2002 and I loved what it did to help people that western medicine did not do. I was truely tired of the treat your symptoms attitude, here's a pill for this, another for that. All the while never getting to the root of the problem. I received my Usui Reiki Master Attunment in 2004, I had also studied 27 other forms of Rieki, Only problem was.... As a nurse, I could not do Reiki for my patients.
Then an amazing thing happened. My supervisor handed me a brochure for a Healing Touch Level 1 workshop saying she thought it was right up my ally. She was right!! I took Level 1 in August 2005, Level 2 in September 2006, Level 3 in January 2007, Level 4 in November 2007. Level 5 should be in December 2008. And I am currently working toward certification which I will be applying for in March 2009. My plan is to continue until I have taken all 6 levels and become both a Certified Practitioner and an Instructor. But the best part about Healing Touch is that I am allow to practice it on my patients and chart it in their permanent medical record at Kaiser Permanente.
The future for me is to turn my practice into an non profit organization that provides healing modalities to anyone interested in taking control of their own health and well being on a sliding scale or donation basis. I am currently trying to build up a client base. I can see patients either at my office or by special request I will make house calls...
